The Innovation project was my last project of second year at University. We were asked to develop our own concept, something that inspired us or we were passionate about, and then push our ideas, using sampling, and our 2d drawing skills to create a final outcome (outfit, including 3 garments). I began looking at eccentricity after being inspired by my grandparents house, and watching a documentary called 'Queen Mimi', about an 80 year old lady who lives in a laundrette in San Diego. I took a lot of inspiration from this, and as a result ended up taking my own photos at a laundrette which later turned into the beginning of my 3d development using towels. I really enjoyed this project, although it was challenging with managing time whilst also doing competition briefs at the same time, i still got a lot out of it. I focused on textures a lot, which is something i had never done before, and i really liked this aspect of my project, i feel i would like to take elements of this concept through to my final year because it's really strong, and i can push it a lot further, with design, shape, texture, and mixing it with an opposing concept, i feel i could create something quite amazing.
